Abdul Hakku, who hails from Vaniyannur village in Kerala’s Malappuram district, was picked by NorthEast United FC in the draft leading up to Hero ISL 2017-18. He went on to make his Hero ISL debut with the Highlanders. Next season he joined Kerala Blasters FC. The defender, however, played just 30 minutes for his team. More game time (307 minutes across five matches) came his way in 2019-20 though. He scored his maiden Hero ISL goal in the 2020-21 season.
