Lalchhuanmawia Fanai represented JCT and Shillong Lajong FC before moving to Bengaluru FC in 2014, with whom he won Hero I-League 2015-16. He was an integral part of Mumbai City FC’s squad in Hero ISL 2015. Lalchhuanmawia joined FC Pune City ahead of Hero ISL 2017-18 and after a couple of seasons there, he moved to Odisha FC for the 2019-20 season. Hero ISL 2020-21 saw the experienced full-back turn out for Chennaiyin FC.
