Ashutosh Mehta began his football career with Mumbai FC and made his Hero ISL debut with FC Pune City in 2014. He joined Mumbai City FC in 2015, making 11 appearances for the Islanders, and then Aizawl FC on loan for the 2016-17 season which culminated with the defender's first Hero I-League triumph. After a brief stint with ATK FC during the 2017-18 Hero ISL season where he made 12 appearances, Ashutosh returned to FC Pune City for the 2018-19 season. He made seven appearances for the club before winning his second Hero I-League trophy with Mohun Bagan AC during the 2019-20 season. The defender returned to the Hero ISL with NorthEast United FC during the 2020-21 season and was one of their best players, scoring one goal and assisting two as the Highlanders qualified for the semi-finals. Later, Ashutosh also made his India debut. In July 2021, he joined ATK Mohun Bagan.
