The highly experienced stopper started his football journey in the local Srirampur league at the age of 15, representing Bengal at the under-19 and under-21 levels and Santosh Trophy. After playing for Aryans and Wari in the Kolkata league, he was picked by Chirag United in 2008. The Deepak Mandal and John Terry fan left a salaried job at South Eastern Railway to join Mohun Bagan as a professional player in 2010. He has in fact played for three of the Big Four in Kolkata and has two stints at the Mariners, being recalled in 2013. After spending last season with Mumbai City FC, Hero ISL 2016 will see Debnath return to Atlético de Kolkata where he already has a total of 11 appearances to his name from their title winning season.
