FC Goa suffered their third successive loss of the 2016 Hero Indian Super League on Thursday night against hosts Chennaiyin FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Things presently don’t look good for the Gaurs but head coach Zico has not lost heart and has vowed to improve. Speaking to the media after the 2-0 loss, the Brazilian said: “I think it was a game of quite a few opportunities. Chennai had three chances and scored twice. We also had a few chances… Maybe nothing is going for us right now but we will work hard to rectify this.”“Of course, I am not happy. In the first season we got only five points from the first round. But we got into the semi-finals. This is just three games and nothing is lost.”Zico, however, admitted the Gaurs have missed the services of quite a few important players this season. “After all the problems that happened after last season, we lost key players we wanted to retain like [Jonatan] Lucca, Pronay [Halder], [Thongkhosiem] Hoakip, who got better offers. But we have to play with the best we have,” the 63-year-old said.Zico also explained what led to marquee player Lucio’s substitution, which had left many surprised. “He picked up a knock during the Pune City game and he felt it again today and so he was substituted at half-time,” he said. When asked if all the signings the club had made in the lead-up to the third season had his approval, Zico said: “Some signings I didn’t know. Even I signed my contract on the deadline [day]. But I have no problem with it. The club has all rights to sign whom they want.”
