ATK Mohun Bagan suffered a setback in their hopes of making the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) final after they lost 3-1 to Hyderabad FC at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim, Goa on Saturday.

ATKMB head coach Juan Ferrando blames defensive lapses for conceding the three goals. However, he is looking forward to the second leg to overturn the scoreline.

Roy Krishna gave ATKMB the lead in the 18th minute of the game but goals by Batholomew Ogbeche, Yasir Mohammad, and Javier Siverio overturned the result in Hyderabad FC’s favour.

Juan Ferrando addressed the media after the game.

Here are some excerpts from his press conference:

You scored the first goal so, how demotivating is it to concede three goals after it?

I think I’m repeating but the team was tired, some injuries at the end and the substitutions were in relation to injuries. We changed the plan and then we made mistakes. We lost focus at the end. If you lose focus it leaves you open and gives great opportunities to Hyderabad FC.

You talked about injuries. So, how is the fitness of the squad?

We will see, it's difficult because we need a minimum of two-three days and then we'll see what happens.

What went wrong defensively?

In the first corner, they tried to make an offside but in the end that was not given. The second is two mistakes that resulted in the loss of possession.

Talking of the second leg, are you thinking of extra time or do you want to kill the game in normal time?

It is like the game against Jamshedpur FC, we need to try to find solutions, and our mentality is to win. In the end, we need to change nothing. Our mentality is to win the next Wednesday and it is necessary when you of course it's two zero. We will try to do our best.
