NorthEast United FC head coach Khalid Jamil expressed disappointment after suffering a crushing 0-5 loss against Hyderabad FC in their Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 match at the PJN Stadium in Margao, Goa on Monday.
Hyderabad FC's Bartholomew Ogbeche opened the scoring as early as in the 3rd minute, while Akash Mishra doubled the lead on the stroke of half-time.
Ogbeche completed his brace and extended the margin, also becoming the leading all-time goal scorer in the Hero ISL. Nikhil Poojary and Edu Garcia each converted once to complete the rout.
Jamil addressed the media during the post-match press conference.
Here are the excerpts from the press conference:
Do you think this was the toughest game you played this season?
Yeah, it was the toughest game and I am very disappointed about what happened, but you have to fight and come back again.
How would you motivate the players after this loss?
Just to forget, not to think about this. Because, I think they worked very hard, but we have to work harder to achieve the results we want.
Do you think that Hyderabad FC are the best team in the league?
You can say, they are good, they have quality players, that is the difference. Talking about different things, they are also fighting.
Are Marcelinho and Marco Sahanek yet to get into their groove?
Actually, Marcelinho plays as an attacking midfielder, but we use him as a striker. Marko, also will be more effective in that position, but we don’t have any option because of the injury of Deshorn Brown and Mapuia (Lalkhawpuimawia), so that’s why we put them up as a striker.
How long will it take for Deshorn Brown to return to action?
We have to look. Maybe Deshorn (Brown) will come back in the next game. We are all waiting for him.
