Shylo Malswamtluanga in action.Midfielder-winger Shylo Malsawmtluanga worked his socks off for the Delhi Dynamos FC and justifiably won the Amul Fittest Player of the Match award, but could not prevent his side from sliding to a 0-1 defeat to Kerala Blasters FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday night. The 30-year-old Mizo was understandably disappointed at the result and apologised to the Delhi fans after the match. “I think we gave our 100% but we were just unlucky, sorry to the Delhi fans,” he told indiansuperleague.com in an exclusive conversation after the match.Asked what has gone wrong considering the team were in good nick in their initial games, ‘Mama’, as he is popularly called, replied, “Yes, we did play well, but after that I think we just didn’t have luck on our side to score goals.” In reply to a question he suggested that the reason for their stagnation is that they are “a little weak in attack”.‘Mama’ refuted the suggestion that there is a lack of confidence in the players, as alluded to by coach Harm van Veldhoven at the press conference. “I don’t think there is a lack of confidence, we’ve been travelling and playing matches every three or four days,” the former Indian international said. “The players tend to get tired because of these factors and it affects the game.”The diminutive player, who has represented several of India’s top clubs with distinction and is currently with East Bengal, also gave the team’s beleaguered coach a thumbs up. “The coach is very good and I have no problem with the way he’s going about it. Whatever he does is in the best interest of the team,” he concluded.
