Jamshedpur FC head coach Khalid Jamil acknowledges that his team deserved to earn three points after playing out a 1-1 draw against Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on Sunday.

The Blues took the lead within the first quarter, courtesy of Suresh Singh Wangjam’s phenomenal left-footed strike from the edge of the box. The hosts equalized in the 70th minute when Javier Siverio headed it home from Imran Khan's cross. The Spaniard broke his goal-scoring drought in the ISL as his goal earned them a point against Bengaluru FC.

The Men of Steel were the better of the two sides in terms of ball possession and shots taken. Jamil's men took 15 shots in total; five of them were on target. The Indian head coach appreciates the performance of the players and feels they deserved to get a win from the match.

“Everybody played well. We tried to get three points and we deserved to get (the) three points,” Jamil stated in the post-match press conference.

Jamshedpur FC created numerous opportunities in the opening half, but their lack of precision in the final third prevented their side from securing the desired goal. Jamil made two half-time substitutions, and the new signing Siverio proved to be the super-sub by scoring the crucial goal.

“In the first half, we tried and created good chances, but the finishing was not up to the mark. In the second half, we made a couple of changes, and the players who came in made a difference,” he commented.

With this point, Jamshedpur FC remain in the eighth position with 14 points from 15 matches. The 46-year-old head coach emphasizes winning more games on their home turf and believes capitalizing on the home advantage will help them move up the table.
“We have to win home matches. Then everything will be fine," Jamil said.
