Chennaiyin FC have confirmed the acquisition of former FC Pune City goalkeeper, Vishal Kaith on a long-term deal. The 23-year old will join Karanjit Singh in the Chennaiyin dugout as another custodian, where he will aim to occupy a regular place in the starting XI.

The youngster first made a name for himself while playing for the junior teams of India. Hero I-League outfit, Shillong Lajong took note of his talent and signed him ahead of the 2014-15 term. He made his club and senior professional debut against Sporting Club de Goa at the end of March 2015.

The next season though, was the real making of Kaith as he made 15 appearances for Lajong and kept four clean sheets. Former Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) side, FC Pune City signed the youngster ahead of the 2016 edition, but being the third-choice stopper, Kaith failed to make a single appearance.

He returned to Lajong the next year and was again the first-choice in most of their matches. He played 18 times and kept three clean sheets, prompting Pune to sign the youngster for the following 2017-18 season.

His league debut finally came against the Marina Machans in December 2017. He played 18 times for the club that season, keeping seven clean sheets. His save percentage was a whopping 70.76, which shows just how good the youngster is when given the opportunity.

Last season, however, wasn’t that fruitful as he made just four appearances for the Stallions. He kept no clean sheets in either of those matches. Something he would look to better in his stint with the two-time champions.
