Chennaiyin FC star Stiven Mendoza scored his first goal for Corinthians in their 2-0 victory over Clube Atlético Linense. The win keeps them at first position in their group in the 2015 Campeonato Paulista competition. Mendoza gave his side the lead in the 14th minute in brilliant individualistic fashion. The forward received the ball at the halfway mark prodding it on with his head as he surged down the flank beating a couple of defenders with pace and then unleashing a powerful shot home at the near post. He not only scored but was a constant threat for the remainder of the game, constantly winning free kicks. The Colombian rose to prominence in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) for his sublime performances for Chennaiyin FC. He scored four goals for the Abhishek Bachchan co-owned side as they finished in joint third position. Chennaiyin always looked strong going forward with the likes of marquee player Elano Blumer leading the frontline, but Mendoza was an invaluable asset. His blistering pace and composure in front of goal led him to become one of the most effective signings of the ISL. The 22-year-old’s confidence on the ball saw him score some fantastic goals, including a solo effort similar to his goal for Corinthians last night, rooting from pace and ending with finishing superiority.
