Players from the Reliance Foundation Young Champs (RFYC) programme defeated Mumbai FC’s Under-15s 5-4 in a friendly match at the Father Agnel Football Ground in Vashi on Saturday. The talented Under-14 players of the RF Young Champs took on the Hero I-League team’s Under-15 players in an 11-a-side encounter with two halves of 25 minutes each.The youngsters from the RFYC programme took an early lead but Mumbai FC equalised five minutes later. The Under-15 Mumbai FC outfit then scored two quick goals to cruise to a 3-1 lead. However, the Young Champs responded immediately and scored two goals before half-time to restore parity as both sides went into the break level-pegging at 3-3.The second half began with both sides fiercely contesting in search of a winner. Mumbai FC made a more positive start to the half by netting their fourth goal of the match which made the scoreline 4-3 in their favour. However, the students from the RFYC program mounted a spirited comeback after falling behind for the second time in the match. Having equalised earlier to make it 4-4, the Under-14 RFYC players scored the winner in the dying seconds of the game and made the score 5-4 to run out deserved winners.
