The RFYC final selections is set to kick off from May 2 and will continue till May 8 as the brightest young talents from the length and breadth of the country assemble at Beverly Park, Navi Mumbai to have a shot at the prestigious Reliance Foundation Young Champs scholarship, which currently features 23 gifted talents who rose through the ranks at the same platform last year.This year’s final selection camp will see 17 more aspiring footballers join the 23 from last year. One hundred and fifty-eight youngsters who made the grade in their respective ISL club’s scouting festival last month are set to gather at Beverly Park and Fr. Agnel ground in Vashi as they hope to go further in this unique programme. Of the 158 participants – 25 are from Mumbai City FC, 24 from Delhi Dynamos FC, 23 from NorthEast United FC, 21 from Kerala Blasters FC, 19 from Atlético de Kolkata, 16 from FC Goa, 18 from Chennaiyin FC and 12 from FC Pune City.The youngsters from the age groups of under-12 and under-14 will start the final selection camp on May 2, following which they will be tested in all aspects of the game over the next five days before their scheduled departure on May 8. All the hopefuls will take part in theoretical sessions in the form of seminars in tandem with practical sessions that will test their technical ability, fitness and skills during the five days of intensive training. The final selected participants who will be eligible for the scholarship will be revealed shortly after the conclusion of the final selection camp.
