FC Pune City will go up against Chennaiyin FC in a bottom of the table clash at the at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Pune on Tuesday evening. The Stallions will be hoping to notch up their first win of the season in order to bring their faltering campaign back on track.

Ahead of the all-important encounter, Pune’s interim coach Pradyum Reddy was present at the pre-match press conference to take questions from the media. He was asked about (Diego) Carlos’ two-match suspension which will rule the striker out for the match, to which Reddy responded, “These are one of those unfortunate things that you don’t want to happen. You need every one of your players and especially in this crucial juncture when you need your goal scorers. This season we’ve scored four goals and Diego is one of them.”

He also addressed midfielder Marko Stankovic’s injury concern and ruled him out for the match against Chennaiyin. “Marko is also out with an injury. So, two of your four goal scorers are out at a crucial juncture. They’re missing no one. It’s not the break that you want but it’s unavoidable,” he said.

Reddy also commented on the dire situation both Pune and Chennaiyin are in this season and reiterated the importance of winning the match. “I think if you asked anyone at the start of the season, no one would’ve thought that two of last season’s semi-finalists would be sitting in this position when we’re close to one-third of the season. John (Gregory) was just here earlier, I’m sure he must’ve said something similar. We find ourselves in a position that we don’t want to be in and it’s our responsibility to dig ourselves out of the of the hole that we are in. So, it’s a must-win game for us,” Reddy said.
