Delhi Dynamos FC’s tall Belgian central defender Wim Raymaekers has been one of the pillars of the capital city side which at one point of time in the recent past held an exemplary defensive record in the Hero Indian Super League. However, the 29-year-old player who spent time at the youth academy of top Belgian side Genk, was unable to prevent Nicolas Anelka from scoring for Mumbai City FC today and sending the Dynamos crashing to a 1-0 defeat.Sharing his thoughts on the game in an exclusive chat with www.indiansuperleague.com, Raymaekers expressed his helplessness about being unable to prevent the decisive goal. “It was very close, there was a lot space for the team to make a counter attack. That’s how Mumbai scored, their counter attack was very good and we just couldn’t stop them,” he commented.Asked how he felt about defending against Anelka, Raymaekers replied, “He’s a big player with a big career and he’s good to play with; but on the field you don’t think about it, so all I have to say is that too bad we couldn’t stop him.”Raymaekers agreed that the imperative of the moment is to effect a revival of their fortunes. “We have to stand up now, we’ve lost two games in a row and we have try and beat our next opponents, the Kerala Blasters,” he said.So will there be more cracking goals from his boots like the one he scored against Chennaiyin FC at home last month? Raymaekers certainly hopes so. “I had a small opportunity today but I missed my shot and the goalkeeper of Mumbai (Subrata Paul) was really good, so I hope we can score goals more easily,” he said.
