FC Pune City coach David Platt has said his team has moved on from the 2-0 defeat against Kerala Blasters FC in the 2015 Hero Indian Super League earlier this week and is ready to take on table-toppers FC Goa at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Pune on Sunday. Both teams are separated by one point and a win on Sunday will see Pune displace the Gaurs at the top of the table.“First and foremost, we didn’t perform at Kerala and we didn’t get the performance we wanted to get. There’s nothing we can do about. Our mood wasn’t the best after the Kerala game. There were many positives from that game and we’ve put the result behind us now,” Platt told reporters on Saturday.“We have been on the training pitch ever since and that’s what’s any footballer would do. We have a game tomorrow evening and we believe we can perform well and get the three points,” he added.FC Goa were rather defensive in their last match against Chennaiyin FC going in with five defenders but still managed to win 2-0. When asked to comment on Goa coach Zico’s tactics, Platt said: “You can say he played with five defenders or with three defenders and two wingbacks. Depending on how the game is going, you can choose to use the players. When they were defending, they had five at the back, while on the offensive they had three at the back. That gives them width to stretch the game.“They played very offensively against us in Goa [the match ended in a 1-1 draw] and they were astute. They played the same way in Chennai the other night and got a very good result but with different personnel. Rather than turn around and say a Brazilian legend is playing defensive football, you’ve got to see he’s gone away from home and got three points. Hats off to him.”Pune will be playing their ninth match this season on Sunday and with five matches more to go in the league stage, Platt was clear as regards his expectations from the team.“Every coach right now will be trying to be in a position to be in the top half of the table. Then he can start to strategise for the semi-finals and beyond. I’ve picked a bunch of players that can actually go out and win a football match. I am only looking to secure enough points to be in the top 4.”
