SC East Bengal remained winless in the Hero ISL after falling to a 0-2 defeat against NorthEast United FC on Friday.
The Red and Gold Brigade sit at the bottom of the standings and are yet to register a win in seven matches.
Diaz spoke to the media addressing the reasons for his team’s struggles.
Here are the excerpts from his post-match press-conference:
SC East Bengal are still winless in the Hero ISL. How difficult it is to motivate the players and have them keep faith in the process?
It is a difficult situation. But after NorthEast United's first goal we played well. We had very good opportunities.
You brought on Amir Dervisevic and Wahengbam Luwang on for defenders even though you had Adil Khan on the bench. What is the reason for that change?
Amir and Luwang played in their own positions in midfield. Raju Gaikwad played as a centre-back which is his natural position. That's the reason I made these changes.
Why are Amarjit Kiyam and Adil Khan both of whom have played for the national team not starting? Is there a fitness concern?
In the ISL, only 11 players can play every match and the eleven that start are my choices.
Do you think the players are not putting enough effort for the team?
The players are doing their best but the performance is what it is.
How do you explain the team's performances?
We have a big problem to win three points and we need to improve. The squad is doing their best but it's not enough. The level we have is what we have.
