Another exciting week of Hero I-League action saw defending champions Mohun Bagan extend their advantage at the top of the league to three points over Bengaluru FC. The Mariners brushed aside Mumbai FC 2-0, thanks to a goal from skipper Yusa Katsumi and an excellently executed free-kick from Sony Norde, who played for Mumbai City FC in the Hero Indian Super League second season.Bitter-rivals East Bengal also got back to winning ways after a Ranti Martins hat-trick proved to be enough for the Gold and Red Brigade to emerge as 3-2 victors against Aizawl FC at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium.Meanwhile, the Goan clubs encountered mixed fortunes this week with Salgaocar picking up a 1-0 win over Shillong Lajong FC at home courtesy of a Gilbert Oliveira goal and Sporting Clube de Goa succumbing to a 3-1 loss at the hands of DSK Shivajians, who registered their second successive win.Mohun Bagan continue their stay at the summit of the league table with 25 points from 11 matches and are followed by Bengaluru FC and East Bengal, who have 22 and 20 points respectively from 11 games. Sporting Clube de Goa are now fourth on 14 points from 12 matches and are closely followed by Salgaocar and Mumbai FC, who have 12 points each from 12 games. DSK Shivajians are also on 12 points, however, they have played one game fewer. Aizawl FC languish at the bottom with nine points from 11 games.
