Mumbai City FC have shored up their midfield for the upcoming season with the addition of Sourav Das to their ranks. The former Mohun Bagan AC midfielder joins the Islanders on a 3-year deal.

A product of the TATA Football Academy, Das moved to Mohun Bagan back in 2016 but failed to get much game time in the first two seasons with the Kolkata giants, making just five appearances in his first two seasons with the club. The 2018-19 season, however, turned out to be a breakthrough season for the young central midfielder, with Bagan's coach for the season, Sankarlal Chakraborty, deciding to put his faith on the player.

Das was involved heavily as Bagan wrestled the Calcutta Football League back from arch-rivals East Bengal for the first time in eight years and went on to make 11 appearances for the Mariners in the Hero I-League 2018-19.

At Mumbai City, Das will reunite with former midfield partner Raynier Fernandes, who joined the Islanders from Mohun Bagan back in 2018. Das brings in a lot of energy in midfield and is known to be a tireless worker, who can consistently cover the entirety of the pitch. The 22-year-old also possesses a decent passing range, making him a smart addition to the Mumbai City midfield.
