Atlético de Kolkata head coach Jose Molina was immensely pleased with his team's 2-1 win against FC Goa at Fatorda's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Thursday evening. With the win fuelled by Stephen Pearson's late strike, ATK moved up to second in the standings and edged closer to the semis with 18 points from 12 matches. Speaking to the media after the match, Molina said he had no complaints whatsoever with the way his team performed against an attacking FC Goa side.“If one team that deserved to win today, it was Atlético de Kolkata. The goal came in the last minute but we played really well, I think brilliant. We could have scored two more goals, three more goals. Our goal was to win the match. They attacked a lot but we defended well. We controlled the match [for the most part] but they found a gap to score one goal,” Molina told reporters.“During half time, I told my players it is very difficult to play better… we played that well in the first half. Maybe in the second half, it was not so great.”Molina also insisted that his players headed into the match with nothing but victory on their minds. “It was not our aim to play for a draw, we came here to win. But I must say that Goa put plenty of pressure on us in the second half,” the Spaniard said.ATK have been guilty of conceding late goals in quite a few matches this season and once again they allowed Goa to get back into the game in the 80th minute when Mandar Rao Dessai found the back of the net. Molina, however, was quick to defend his team when asked why they were consistently leaking goals in the last few minutes. “We never know when the goal is going to come. We as a team defend from the first minute to the last minute. We try to be strong, we try not to give too many chances to score. Sometimes we do silly mistakes but today we didn't make a mistake, they found a gap and scored,” the 46-year-old said.Molina also praised Borja Fernandez and Javi Lara for their solid performance on the night before adding that it was eventually team work that made the difference for ATK. “Of course, they [Fernandez and Lara] played really well but not only them, the entire team played well in the first half. All of them did a great job. I was thinking of bringing on a substitute but they were playing really well. When they [Goa] scored a goal, I started looking for solutions but until that moment I was absolutely happy with the performance of the team,” Molina said.
