After a clinical performance against Mumbai City FC in their last Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2018-19 outing, FC Goa will look to keep the winning momentum going when they face Delhi Dynamos FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Monday. Should the Gaurs prevail, they would boost their chances of progressing to the playoffs considerably.

Ahead of that match, FC Goa head coach Sergio Lobera spoke on numerous topics concerning his team, the match and the opposition. The Spaniard began by praising Delhi and opined that their league position doesn't quite do justice to their performances on the field. "We already saw in our game against Delhi at home that they are a team which is much better than what their situation on the table suggests. They have displayed a good brand of football and it will be a tough game like our first encounter," he said.

With five matches to go in their league campaign, the Gaurs will look to secure their place in the playoffs as soon as possible. Lobera, however, suggested that obsessing about it might be counterproductive. "The most important thing is to seal it (spot in the playoffs) but not getting obsessed with doing it as soon as possible. We have to focus on every remaining game and try to get the maximum points from each," he said.

Asked whether his team was under pressure with the top four race slowly reaching its climax, Lobera stated, "I think we shouldn't have any pressure. There are other teams that have more pressure than us. We are a team that embodies playing the game with excitement and hope that this is what which will help us to make it."

Goa have kept back-to-back clean sheets in their last two fixtures, which is uncharacteristic of a team focussed primarily on outscoring the opposition with their array of attacking talents. Asked if there was more focus on the defensive side of things after the break, Lobera said, "It's true that we have obtained two consecutive clean sheets, but what I care about the most is having a good goal difference, because this can be a key factor at the end of the season. The team has worked very well defensively and I'm very happy about it. The collective defensive work of the team has helped us a lot."
