Experienced custodian Laxmikant Kattimani signed a new deal with Hyderabad FC on Saturday to extend his stay with the Telangana-based side till the 2020-21 season. The 31-year-old goalkeeper made six appearances between the posts for Hyderabad in Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 and was delighted after extending his stay with the club.

“I’m really happy to extend my stay at Hyderabad FC. I am very grateful for the faith shown in me by the management. I think towards the end of the last season, we showed a lot of improvement as a team. There was a change in approach and I hope that we can build on that in the upcoming season. The fans have been great in our debut season, and I hope they will keep supporting us,” said Kattimani after extending his contract.

One of the most experienced goalkeepers in the Hero ISL, Kattimani was part of the FC Goa squad since the inaugural season of Hero ISL in 2014 and played a key role in the Gaurs' run to the final in Hero ISL 2015. The Goa-born custodian spent most of his professional career in his home state playing for Dempo SC and FC Goa prior to joining Mumbai FC in 2017, in what is his only other spell outside his home state.

After his stint with Mumbai, Kattimani returned to FC Goa and was part of the Hero Super Cup winning side in 2019. His time with the Gaurs also saw him finish as runners-up in Hero ISL 2015 despite saving two penalties against Chennaiyin FC in the final. He has made 45 appearances in the Hero ISL so far and becomes the latest player extend their stay with Hyderabad, following the likes of Adil Khan, Mohammed Yasir, Asish Rai, Nikhil Poojary, Dimple Bhagat and Abhishek Halder.
