Hyderabad FC play their final home match of the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 against Jamshedpur FC at the G.M.C. Balayogi Athletic Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday. Hyderabad, currently rooted to the bottom of the table, have endured a disappointing campaign so far but will be eager to sign off on a high in front of the home support.

Reiterating the will to win the upcoming game, Hyderabad interim head coach Javier Gurri Lopez, at the pre-match press conference, said, “This match is really important for us as it will be our last match at our home in Hyderabad. We are also coming from a disappointing match against FC Goa, where our performance wasn’t very good. We are expecting to have a good match against Jamshedpur. We want to get the three points for the supporters and owners, because they deserve that.”

Hyderabad come into the game on the back of a 4-1 loss to FC Goa in their last outing. Revealing that it wasn’t easy to recover the players’ self-confidence after the heavy loss, Lopez noted, “The feeling in the camp is very good now. It was, however, not so at the beginning of the week. It was difficult to recover the self-confidence of the players (after the 4-1 loss to Goa). But we have done well and will look to win the match.”

Against Goa, Hyderabad put in a dogged fight in the first half but fizzled out in the second 45 minutes. Addressing that, Lopez opined, “Heads dropped after we conceded the second goal. It happens when you are in the last position.”

Defender Souvik Chakrabarti, who accompanied Lopez to the briefing, said, “This is our last match at home. Our situation isn’t that great, but we want to win it for the fans. I request the fans to come in numbers and support us since it is the last match at home.”

“We are trying to work as a team. Everyone is trying hard but there have been some individual errors. We are trying to rectify these and we will try and put in a strong performance,” he added.
