NorthEast United FC play Bengaluru FC in their Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 clash at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday. NorthEast will be playing their first match in 10 days after losing to ATK, while Bengaluru will look to find some form after a late goal by Mumbai City ended their unbeaten start to the season.

Speaking at the pre-match press event, head coach Robert Jarni gave his views on the upcoming game, “The game will be a difficult one. We know they are one of the best teams in India. But like we saw in the last match that the game is open. We have a possibility to win but I think it will be very difficult, but we will give our everything to win the game.”

ATK ended NorthEast’s unbeaten run this season. On the loss, Jarni opined, “The game against ATK was the worst match that we played. We never played so bad before. It was a bad day, but we have forgotten about that match. We have analysed that match and the players know where they went wrong, and they will make sure that in the future, it won’t happen again.”

“We all trained well, we trained together. The atmosphere in the camp is very positive. The players are very good and are giving their best in the training field. In relation to the match, we are mentally and physically ready. (Asamoah) Gyan is unavailable (for the upcoming game), but he will be playing the next match,” he added.

NorthEast were unable to play their last game because of unrest in the city. On this the Croatian said, “We are sorry we could not play the last match. For that match, we had a huge advantage in the last game because Chennai had only two days before they played us. But it is a situation we could not do much about.”
