Mumbai City FC have kicked their recruitment into overdrive ahead of Season 3 of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) by confirming the signings of Jackichand Singh, Boithang Haokip and Aiborlang Khongjee on Tuesday. The Maharashtra-based club made Alexandre Guimaraes their head coach in April and recently also confirmed the retention of a few key individuals from last season, including Cristian Bustos, Sony Norde and Sunil Chhetri. Argentina’s Matias Defederico further bolstered their ranks last week by becoming their latest foreign acquisition. The signing of Jackichand, Boithang and Khongjee will add more depth to Mumbai’s squad in view of their invaluable ISL experience with other clubs. Both Khongjee and Boithang represented NorthEast United FC during Season 1 and 2 with the latter also getting on the scoresheet once for the Highlanders last year. However, securing Jackichand’s services for Season 3 is what will excite Mumbai City FC fans the most. The 24-year-old winger from Manipur has been in scintillating form for the national side of late and holds the distinction of scoring the third fastest goal last season after netting for FC Pune City within 75 seconds of kick-off against Atlético de Kolkata.
