Kerala Blasters talisman Iain Hume has signed for his boyhood club Tranmere Rovers FC on a six-month deal. The Canadian striker will be seen in action for the League Two club, who had first spotted Hume at the age of 15. Hume began his professional career at Tranmere in 1999 and stayed there for six seasons, scoring 37 goals in 177 appearances. Hume was among the top performers of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL), scoring five goals and spearheading Kerala to the finals. The Blasters’ number 10 made history after becoming the first player to win ISL’s Player of the League award. He not only scored on vital occasions but also provided three assists in his 16 appearances for the Kochi-based team. Hume’s work rate and commitment to the Blasters made him a fan favourite among the Kochi faithful, along with earning the admiration of his team mates. The Canadian international has also represented his national team with distinction, earning 41 senior caps and finding the back of the net on six occasions for ‘The Canucks’.
