The Blue Tigers' last international outing was against Bahrain in the AFC Asian Cup 2019 back in January. Despite starting the continental showpiece on a high with a 4-1 victory over Thailand, Sunil Chhetri and Co lost their two subsequent group matches to UAE and Bahrain, leading to an early exit from the tournament.
The disappointing end to their AFC Asian Cup campaign also prompted the team's head coach Stephen Constantine to step down from his position. The team is yet to announce a new head coach.
Having finished 2018 ranked 97th, India lost six places in the FIFA Rankings released in February 2019 and were ranked 103rd in the world.
