ATK Mohun Bagan forward Liston Colaco revealed it's not about only scoring goals, but helping the team get the three points which is more important to him. Colaco finished as the top Indian goalscorer in the previous Hero Indian Super League (ISL) season, but has found it tough to repeat his heroics this time. In seven matches so far, the Goan has contributed a goal and three assists.

Colaco, who attended the pre-match press conference alongside head coach Juan Ferrando ahead of ATK Mohun Bagan's game against Bengaluru FC, said his target was to help the team qualify for the playoffs and finish top of the league. Colaco said every player goes through a phase where they miss chances, but he is firm on returning back to his former self and be successful when he has the ball.

Talking about ATKMB's upcoming game against Bengaluru FC, the youngster said the Mariners will make use of the confidence after their win over Hyderabad FC and try to get the three points at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium.

Here are the excerpts from Colaco’s press conference:

You scored eight goals last season, but have just scored just once this season. Do you think your form has taken a dip compared to last season?

It’s not only about goals, but how you help the team. I scored eight goals last season, but I know I have to work and prove myself this season as well. This season has not gone quite well for me. But for me, the most important thing is to help the team. It doesn’t matter if I score or not, the most important thing is to win. We want to be in the top six and win this league. I know I need to score more goals. I am working hard on it and hopefully, I can score in the upcoming games.

You have been missing easy chances. What are your thoughts on that?

Every player misses chances, you can see the top players as well. The most important thing is to create those chances. I need to work on that. I know that I need to improve on finishing my chances as well.

My performances have not been that good this season, but hopefully, I can get back to my old form. The most important thing is to keep trying. If I am not doing well, it’s not that the fans don’t see it. I am putting my 100% on the field. It also depends on luck and I think that has been missing. Maybe I can score in the upcoming matches.

You have been holding the ball for too long in the box, which allows the opponent to regroup and organise their defence. Is it something that the coach has asked you to do?

My quality is to move with the ball. Whenever I get the ball, it depends on me. Last season, I used to do the same thing, but I was successful. But this season, things have not been going well for me. It’s not that I am holding the ball for too long, but I have been missing the confidence (from last season) and I hope to regain that in the upcoming games.

How was the mood in the dressing room after the win against Hyderabad FC?

We were more motivated after the loss against FC Goa as we were not happy with our performance. We were determined to improve in the next training session after that game and this is the important thing - to improve in each and every session and to perform well. Our confidence level after the game against Hyderabad FC was normal, because we could have won the game with more goals. But we will move with that same confidence against Bengaluru FC and try to get the three points.
