Iain Hume joins Atlético de Kolkata

Atlético de Kolkata have announced the signing of Iain Hume for the second season of the Hero Indian Super League’s (ISL). Season 1 saw Hume put up brilliant performances for league runners-up Kerala Blasters FC, for which he was adjudged Player of the League.

The Canadian striker scored five goals in his 16 ISL appearances as he led Kerala Blasters to the final. Hume also had three assists to his credit with a whopping 21 shots on goal. A constant threat to oppositions throughout, he supplied the Kochi-based side with 40 crosses and was admired by fans due to his commendable work rate.

The news of his move to Kolkata for the next edition has been received with much enthusiasm. “I look forward to working with Iain Edward Hume this year. His last year's performance and club commitments surely must be keeping him match-ready when we embark on our quest for the trophy. Hopefully, he will soon be the toast of all Atlético de Kolkata fans in India,” said Atlético de Kolkata head coach Antonio López Habas on his latest signing.

The Scottish-born forward, who was playing for his boyhood club Tranmere Rovers FC in England following his inaugural ISL stint, will soon return to India to play in the red and white stripes of the Kolkata-based side.

In December last year, Iain Hume was declared Player of the Week by ISL fans in our online poll. Read more here.
