Chennaiyin FC head coach Bozidar Bandovic was pleased with his team’s performance despite a 0-1 loss to defending champions Mumbai City FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) on Wednesday at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Margao, Goa.

The two-time champions were undone by a late Rahul Bheke goal as they lost their unbeaten start to the campaign.

Chennaiyin FC were disciplined in defence but couldn’t see out the game and collect a point against the league leaders who have won five out of their opening six matches.

Bandovic spoke to the media after the match.

Here are the excerpts from his post-match press conference.

How bad does conceding a goal so late feel?

Emotionally it's bad because I believe we deserved more but we need to keep working, keep thinking about the next game. We need to be ready and we will be ready for the next game.

Mumbai City FC scored a goal similar to what they have scored multiple times this season. What are your thoughts on it?

We analysed the opponent and we knew that they do this routine. My players did the best but sometimes these things happen and I totally support them. In the second half we had much better play and we could score the goal and if we did that it's a totally different game.

What aspect of the game your team was lacking and where did they excel?

I think defensively we totally controlled the game, In attack, we were much better in the second half. If we had attacked in the first half like we did in the second, we could win the game. But as I said, if we score the goal in the second half, the chances we had, it will be a totally different game. So defensively we controlled well.

What are your thoughts on Vishal Kaith's performance?

I fully support him.
