Hyderabad FC's new signing Edu Garcia believes the club has several young players in their ranks who will go on to make a big name for themselves in the Hero Indian Super League.

Hyderabad narrowly missed out on the playoffs during the Hero ISL 2020-21 season by just two points, impressing all and sundry with their consistent performances. Indian youngsters such as Akash Mishra, Asish Rai, Mohammad Yasir, Chinglensana Singh, Hitesh Sharma, Liston Colaco played a big part in their success as the club ended the season with a 12-match unbeaten run.

Having watched Hyderabad’s youngsters closely last season, the Spaniard said there were other young players in their ranks who also have a bright future in store, without taking names.

“The truth is that all of them have impressed me," Garcia was quoted as saying by Khel Now.

"There are very young players who are already very important in the team and we all saw them last season. But, there are others who have not yet appeared and are very good footballers. I think Hyderabad FC has several young talents who are going to be top players in the ISL.”

Garcia, with 12 goals and 10 assists from 47 Hero ISL appearances so far, will be entering his fourth season in Indian football. The attacking midfielder was a part of Bengaluru during the 2017-18 season before moving to China.

He returned in the 2018-19 season, where he won the Hero ISL title, and since then he has been plying his trade in India.

Garcia stated Hyderabad coach Manolo Marzquez was a big reason behind joining the Telangana-based club.

“I spoke with Manolo, he conveyed his idea to me for the team this year and I liked it," he revealed.

"I also think that with him as a coach, I can enjoy football more. In addition to the great challenge of playing for a club that is growing year-by-year.”

He added: "One of the reasons I chose Hyderabad FC is that Manolo knows that I am a versatile player and he can use me in different positions, depending on the opponent’s game or the needs of the team,” he added.
