In Round 2, the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 season witnessed matches that ebbed and flowed puting the viewers on the edge of their seats day in and out.

ATK Mohun Bagan continued their good run of form to emerge victorious in the Kolkata Derby on Saturday evening while Hyderabad FC bounced back to defeat the defending champions Mumbai City FC by surprise in the final match of Round 2.

Earlier, Odisha FC started their campaign with a clinical victory of 3-1 over Bengaluru FC. Meanwhile, the clash between NorthEast United FC and Kerala Blasters FC ended in a goalless draw -- the first of this season.

However, the Durand Cup winners FC Goa encountered early jitters to their season with successive defeats as Jamshedpur FC trumped the Ferrando-led side 3-1.

At the end of the second round of matches, here is Hero ISL Team of the Week consisting of the best performers in the opening round.

Formation: 4-3-3

Goalkeeper

Kamaljit Singh (Odisha FC) - 8.07

Kamaljit did extremely well to counter the threat posed by Bengaluru FC in their first outing of the season. He kept out four shots on his goal, that included a masterful save to deny Sunil Chhetri from the penalty spot.

Defender

Alan Costa (Bengaluru FC) - 8.32

Costa has made it to the team of the week not only for his defensive prowess in Round 2 but for his ability to score goals in the process. The defender fired the equalising goal against Odisha FC with a leaping header into the net.

Defender

Subhasish Bose (ATK Mohun Bagan) - 7.54

The left-back was important in ensuring a clean sheet against SC East Bengal with three successful tackles and two interceptions to keep the opponents at bay.

Defender

Patrick Flottman (NorthEast United FC) - 7.37

In his first Hero ISL appearance, Flottman proved pivotal in securing NorthEast United FC’s first point of the season in a goalless draw against Kerala Blasters FC. Playing the full 90 minutes, the defender made two successful tackles, five clearances and four blocks.

Hernandez had his impact felt across the pitch in all departments against Bengaluru FC. He scored a brace for his side, that included an early strike in the third minute and a ripping free kick to go along two successful tackles and interceptions each.

Midfielder

Ahmed Jahouh (Mumbai City FC) - 8.03

The solitary goal scorer for his side in the 1-3 defeat against Hyderabad FC, Jahouh made it to the team of the week with a standout performance in which he made 12 tackles, and four blocks.

Midfielder

Joao Victor (Hyderabad FC) - 7.84

Victor’s team suffered an early blow within minutes of the game against Mumbai City FC. Startled but not threatened, Victor kickstarted the comeback with a goal from the penalty spot, bagging the Hero of the Match award.

Forward

Nerijus Valskis (Jamshedpur FC) - 9.72

The highest rated player in the Round 2, Valskis, lifted Jamshedpur FC with a couple of goals within a gap of ten minutes to unsettle FC Goa. The Gaurs never recovered from those twin blows.

Krishna so far is the only player to appear in the Team of the Week for both the rounds. The ATKMB forward has been a menacing customer to deal with in the Hero ISL for the opponents as he scored another goal in the Kolkata derby.
