Happy with the performance of the team: Mohun Bagan SG’s Jose Molina
The Spanish head coach shared his thoughts on the game after his side played out a 1-1 draw with Odisha FC away from home.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant head coach Jose Molina was pleased with his team's overall performance as his side played out a tightly contested game, ending in a 1-1 draw with Odisha FC on Sunday.
The match started with high intensity as Odisha FC's Hugo Boumous opened the scoring in just the fourth minute, capitalizing on an indirect free-kick to put the Kalinga Warriors ahead early. However, Mohun Bagan Super Giant equalized in the 36th minute when Manvir Singh converted a corner with a powerful header, levelling the score.
In the post-match press conference, the Mariners' head coach Jose Molina expressed satisfaction with his team's overall play, despite the draw.
Reflecting on the performance, Molina said, "I am happy with the team's performance in terms of football—the way they played, you know, pushing, pressing high, attacking, good passing, and reaching the opponent's box. It’s true that in the final third, we needed something extra to score, but overall, I am happy."
A point earned from Kalinga! 🫡

Forward Dimitrios Petratos had a strong game, contributing in both attack and defence. Molina praised Petratos' performance, highlighting his standout contributions on his birthday.
"Dimitrios Petratos played well, helping the team in defence. His work in the training session was good, and he was good in attack, trying to create superiority in the middle by dropping back a bit. With Maclaren upfront, he played more as a striker, looking to get behind the defence,” he said.
“Not lucky today in terms of the score, but happy—really happy—with the performance," Molina added.
The Kolkata side missed their playmaker, Greg Stewart, due to injury. Molina provided an update on the midfielder's absence.
"Hopefully, he’ll be ready for the next match in 15 days, after the international break. I hope he can be fit for the next game," Molina said.
Goalkeeper Vishal Kaith made several key saves to keep his side in the game and prevent further goals. Molina also praised the Mariners’ keeper, saying, “(He was) really good, because it was a difficult match for him, for the goalkeeper, as they were counter-attacking.”
“I think he had to be ready, with the team covering the back of the defence, sometimes coming outside his goal. He did a really good job.”
Mohun Bagan Super Giant will be back in action after the international break, facing Jamshedpur FC on 23rd November.
