FC Pune City secured their first home win of Hero Indian Super League 2016 against Atlético de Kolkata at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Balewadi on Sunday. The Stallions edged ATK 2-1 after goals from Eduardo Ferreira and Anibal Rodriguez either side of the break. Iain Hume pulled one back for Kolkata but the hosts held on valiantly to claim all three points and move off the bottom of the table.Speaking to the media at the post-match press conference, Pune head coach Antonio Habas acknowledged the importance of the win but stressed his side needs to keep winning. “Yes, we are alive now. Everyone today saw that Pune is not bad. But it’s not important. We’ve beaten the team that has been playing the best football in the league this year, so we are happy with that. But nothing special. It’s good for our morale. But it’s one game. We need to continue winning,” Habas said.Pune took the lead through Ferreira’s 41st-minute header from a corner. When asked how important the 33-year-old’s opener was, Habas said: “We had too much pressure in the last week because the result wasn’t coming. The players had a lot of pressure today. Eduardo scored. He saw the tension that I, the players and everyone had, so he came and hugged me. I want to say Eduardo is a magnificent player and a magnificent guy. Till the last moment, we will fight.”The Spaniard also provided an injury update on Ferreira, who was withdrawn due to injury shortly after breaking the deadlock. “He has some problem below his eye on his cheekbone. He is back to the stadium. He’s fine. He went to the hospital and he’s fine and that’s great news for us.”Habas’ first meeting with his former employers had its fair share of flashpoints and saw nine yellow cards handed out to players from both camps. The 59-year-old explained the change in his side’s intensity and style. “My team is like that, intense, it’s strong. Till now, we were rushing so we had no time to build and practise my style. But today, the players gave their 100% on and off the pitch. For that, I want to thank them and congratulate them because that ensured we got a good result. But now we need to continue like this, we don’t have much time but we need to keep working,” he said.Pune now face hosts Mumbai City FC on November 10 in what will be the second Maharashtra derby of the season.
