Greg Stewart has parted ways with Mumbai City FC after mutually terminating his contract with the Islanders, the club confirmed through a statement on Wednesday.

Stewart leaves India after achieving notable success at both Jamshedpur FC and Mumbai City FC.

At Jamshedpur FC, he played a pivotal role in securing the ISL League Shield during the 2021-22 season, directly contributing to 20 out of the team's 43 goals with 10 goals and 10 assists. His impactful performances earned him the title of Hero of the League in his inaugural ISL campaign.

Transitioning to Mumbai City FC in the subsequent season, Stewart continued his winning trajectory. He played a key role in guiding the team to the Durand Cup final and played a significant part in their League Shield triumph. Scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists across two season with the Islanders, the Scottish forward firmly established himself as a crucial component in Mumbai City FC's lineup.

"Stewart expressed his desire to leave the Islanders midway through the season and return home to Scotland due to critical personal reasons, compelling Mumbai City to agree to the aforementioned mutual termination of his contract," the club said in a statement.

"The Club places on record its thanks to Greg for his contributions to the Islanders, including 17 goals and 18 assists in 46 games and an ISL League Winners’ Shield in the 2022-23 season, and wish him and his family well for the future."
