FC Goa head coach Derrick Pereira was satisfied with his side’s 1-1 draw with Bengaluru FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the Athletic Stadium, Goa on Sunday.

The Gaurs took the lead in the 41st minute when Dylan Fox headed in a Jorge Ortiz cross. But, Sunil Chhetri equalised the score for Bengaluru FC in the 61st minute.

This result leaves both sides level on 14 points and still gives both teams, outside chances to make the semi-final spots.

Derrick Pereira addressed the media after the match.

Here are some excerpts from his press conference:

Do you think this was a fair result?

Taking into consideration all the conditions and situations I think yes, both the teams I think are suffering because of Covid-19, taking into consideration our last result against SC East Bengal, playing against an in-form team like Bengaluru. It made it a bit difficult. But the first 15 minutes, were tough for us. I mean, they put us under a lot of pressure. But then we got back and I think we controlled the game for some part of the match, we controlled then we created some chances. But yeah, I think we can do much better. But considering that I mean, the result? Yes, I think it 1-1 draw is fair.

Brandon Fernandes made his first appearance this season. How long before he starts a game?

Once we feel that he's 100% fit. Definitely, I'm happy that he got some minutes. In today's match, we wanted to see how he is, how comfortable he would be and I think he did well and hopefully maybe another two or three sessions with the team. Definitely, very soon he may get a start.

You say you believe in miracles but, do you think that this kind of performance will help you achieve your semi-final dreams?

I said it because I have faith in God and anything is possible with God. We are working hard, the players are giving in their best. This year, except for the last match, we did well in most of the matches, dominated created chances, but finishing is our concern. So that's where we are struggling.
