Elano displaying impressive ball control during trainingChennaiyin FC’s marquee player, Elano Blumer, known simply as Elano, arrived in Chennai this morning to join his teammates in their preparation for the inaugural edition of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL). Elano is known for his accurate and incisive passing from a central attacking midfield position, along with his mazy runs and dribbling skills. He is also renowned as a set piece specialist.The Brazilian playmaker has played for Brazilian powerhouses Santos – his first club – Grêmio, and Flamengo, as well as in Europe for Ukranian giants Shakhtar Donetsk, famed Turkish club Galatasaray, and English side Manchester City. He has also had a successful international career, winning the 2007 Copa America and 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup – where he played a crucial role in the final as Brazil came back from a 2-0 deficit to win. He also scored in each of the first two games of Brazil’s 2010 FIFA World Cup campaign.Elano immediately linked up with the rest of the squad for preseason training ahead of the ISL season. The tournament starts on October 12, with Elano and his teammates kicking off their season away to FC Goa in October 15.
