Gameweek 14 of the Hero I-League saw Bengaluru FC lose second place as Royal Wahingdoh moved to second. Mohun Bagan remain at number one with a five points separating them from the Shillong based club as Bengaluru FC drop to third. East Bengal secured another win on the trot as they beat Pune FC at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune. The Red and Golds opened their account in the 18th minute via the league’s top scorer- Ranti Martins (FC Goa). Martins scored a wonderfully timed volley from a Leo Bertos (NorthEast United FC) delivery to score the opening goal. The home side pulled one back as the teams were tied going into the break. Harmanjot Khabra (Chennaiyin FC) restored the advantage for the away side two minutes into the second half as he dispatched a powerful shot into the back of the net after taking a couple of touches off his left foot. Dudu Omagbemi (FC Pune City) doubled East Bengal’s lead in the 55th minute scoring the decisive goal on the night. The Nigerian finished clinically from a looped cross into the box, scoring his third goal this week. Pune FC pulled one back but Dudu’s goal was enough to grant the away team the full three points. East Bengal remain fifth, one point behind fourth placed Pune FC.
