Delhi Dynamos FC have completed the signing of Spanish defender Marti Crespi Pascual ahead of the 2018-19 season of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL). Crespi is the Lions’ fifth foreign recruit of the season and will directly join the team for pre-season in Kolkata.

The 31-year-old started his professional career with the Spanish outfit Mallorca and spent three seasons on loan at Elche, Granada and Xerez. He went on to join the Spanish top division side, Racing Santander in 2013, before moving onto CE Sabadell FC in Segunda B.

The defender then shifted base to China, representing the likes of Qingdao Huanghai and Nei Mongol Zhongyou, before taking the decision to come to India. Crespi has also played for the Spanish national team in the U-19 and U-20 category.

Delhi’s new head coach Josep Gombau lauded the new signing and shared how he can be of great value to the Dynamos setup. “He is a defender who fits in perfectly into our style of play and we are happy he has agreed to join us. He adds a lot of experience to this side and having played in China will definitely help Crespi adapt to the conditions here as well.”

Crespi also shared his excitement on his new journey, “I am really looking forward to this new challenge. It was a simple decision for me to move once Josep Gombau called me and explained his plans with Dynamos. I am hoping I can add a lot to this side.”
