Indian Super League (ISL) side Bengaluru FC have signed Spanish defensive midfielder Pedro Capó. The Spaniard joins the Blues on a one-year deal and will immediately step in to fill the gap left by Keziah Veendorp, who parted ways with the club last week. Primarily a defensive midfielder, Capó can also operate as a centre-back if needed.

Born in Mahón, Capó began his youth career at La Salle Mahón at the age of 10. After spending four years with the local club, he moved to Atlético Villacarlos and later graduated from Penya Ciutadella.

In 2009, he started his senior career with Segunda División B side CF Sporting Mahonés. After two seasons with Mahonés, he continued his journey with various third-division sides, including Celta de Vigo B, RCD Mallorca B, CD Atlético Baleares, Arroyo CP, CD Llosetense, SD Leioa, and CE Sabadell FC.

Capó achieved promotion to Segunda División with CE Sabadell FC in 2020. In 2021, he joined Eldense, where he spent three years before embarking on his new adventure with Bengaluru FC. He also captained the team in the Spanish second tier.

The 33-year-old boasts an extensive playing career, with 454 matches under his belt, during which he has scored 23 goals and provided two assists.

Expressing his delight at signing with Bengaluru FC, Capó said, “I’m really glad to have signed with Bengaluru FC, one of the best clubs in India. The opportunity to come to India presented itself to me a few years ago, but I felt the time was not right. My conversations with Gerard (Zaragoza) have given me a lot of enthusiasm, and a desire to perform and I think now is the right time for me to move to India and live an intense experience.”

“Pedro is a player with immense experience in the Spanish Segunda B and one who I am sure will do well for us. He’s a leader on the pitch, and both his previous teams earned promotion to La Liga 2. He’s very good at organizing a team’s defensive shape, and one whose tactical intelligence and physical presence will be crucial to our efforts this season. I’m looking forward to having him join the group," Zaragoza said.

Jamshedpur FC sign Nishchal Chandan

Jamshedpur FC have roped in young defender Nishchal Chandan ahead of the new season with an option to extend the contract based on his performance.

Standing at an impressive 6 feet 3 inches, his signing is in addition to Pratik Chaudhari in the central defence.

The 25-year-old expressed his joy and commitment, stating,” Joining Jamshedpur FC is a dream come true! I'm ecstatic to be a part of a club with such a rich history and to have the opportunity to play in the ISL. I'm grateful to Head Coach Khalid Jamil and the management for believing in me. I'm committed to giving my best efforts and performing to the highest level. My goal is to have a successful debut season, helping the team to have the best defence in the league to make the fans of Jamshedpur proud.”

Chandan's football journey began in 2015 at Minerva Academy, where he refined his skills and later became a champion in the U-18 I-League North Zone Championship with Minerva FC. He progressed to make his debut in the I-League second division with Punjab FC in 2020-21, followed by a stint with Sudeva FC from 2021-23, where he not only made his I-League debut as captain but also scored a goal. His impressive performance led to a move to Churchill Brothers in 2023-24 playing all 19 games, before joining Jamshedpur FC.

Head Coach Khalid Jamil shared his enthusiasm about the signing, saying, “Nishchal has a great opportunity ahead of him, but he must be patient and wait for his chance. He needs to showcase his abilities and consistently deliver strong performances to secure his place in the team."
