Hyderabad FC’s Bartholomew Ogbeche became the all-time leading goalscorer in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL), after his brace against NorthEast United FC at the PJN Stadium in Margao, Goa on Monday.

The Nigerian stretched his goal tally to 49 goals in the Hero ISL to go past Sunil Chhetri and Ferran Corominas who are tied on 48 goals.

The veteran was roped in the NorthEast United FC ahead of the ISL 2018-19 and had an immediate effect as he guided his new employers to their first ever top-four finish in the league, having finished as the top-scorer for the Highlanders, with 12 goals.

The Nigerian shifted his loyalties to Kerala Blasters FC in the following season and ended up as the joint-top scorer in the league with 15 strikes. Ogbeche added eight to his tally in the following season, as he helped Mumbai City FC lift their maiden ISL title, before joining Hyderabad FC for the ISL 2021-22. With already 14 goals to his name in 13 matches this season, he is not in a mood to stop scoring.

Ogbeche started his career as a youngster for French heavyweights Paris Saint Germain in the Ligue 1, having scored during the 2001-02 season. His career took off from there on, following which he played for clubs like Al-Jazira in the UAE Football League, Spanish side Real Valladolid in the La Liga and for SC Cambuur in the Dutch top tier.
