After a sensational start to his first-ever Hero Indian Super League (ISL) season, ATK Mohun Bagan forward Dimitri Petratos has been awarded the Hero of the Month award for October, a prize which is given to the best player in the Hero ISL every month.

As per the voting criteria, fans' votes count towards 50% of the vote share and experts' votes account for the remaining 50%. The forward has been chosen as per the fans’ votes between the period that started from 9:30PM on November 2 and ended at 9:30PM on November 4.

The Aussie's cumulative vote count, including the fans' votes (50.44%) and the experts votes (42.86%), came down to 46.65% as he was the most voted player by the fans and the second-most voted player by the experts. Thus, the forward beat Mumbai City FC's Mehtab Singh who came close second at 40.51% along with Phurba Lachenpa, Joao Victor, and Halicharan Narzary.

Petratos got off to a flying start in the Hero ISL as he made at least one goal contribution in each of his starts so far including the remarkable hattrick against Kerala Blasters FC in Kochi. The Australian is among the leading goalscorers and assist providers in the 2022-23 season.

After the departures of David Williams and Roy Krishna from ATK Mohun Bagan, Petratos has rightly slotted into the striker’s position and has been of great importance for the Juan Ferrando-coached side so far.

The Mariners went down to Chennaiyin FC in their opening game of the season, post which they picked up two successive wins: one against Kerala Blasters FC in Kochi and the other against East Bengal FC. Petratos was instrumental in both the games and received the Hero of the Match award in the game against the Blasters.
