ATK Mohun Bagan have parted ways with head coach Antonio Lopez Habas, the cluc announced on Saturday. Assistant coach Manuel Cascallana will take charge for the remainder of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 season, the club confirmed

The two-time Hero ISL champion departed was relieved of his duties by the club after the team's 3-3 draw against Bengaluru FC on Thursday. Cascallana will now be the interim coach.

After just six games of the Hero ISL 2021-22 season, ATK Mohun Bagan have found themselves in sixth position in the league table with two wins, draws, and losses each. They started the season on a winning note for the Mariners who beat Kerala Blasters FC 4-2 in the opening game before the 3-0 win over arch-rivals SC East Bengal. But results have been underwhelming since then.

Habas still remains one of the most successful coaches in the Hero ISL, winning two ISL titles. Under Habas, the Mariners secured the second position in the league table in the last season and missed on the title by a narrow margin. In what was his last game in-charge as ATK Mohun Bagan head coach, his side battled a thrilling 3-3 draw against Bengaluru FC on December 16.
