ATK Mohun Bagan have announced former FC Goa boss Juan Ferrando as their new head coach to replace Antonio Habas at the helm who was relieved of his duties last week after the team's 3-3 draw against Bengaluru FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) on December 16.

The Mariners confirmed the appointment through a media release on Monday.

The Spaniard said he will try and bring an attractive brand of football to ATK Mohun Bagan whose squad boasts of a plethora of attacking talent.

"I will give my 110% from day one so that all fans can enjoy the best brand of football and hopefully we can celebrate together. I will consistently work towards helping our team give the best," Ferrando was quoted as saying in the release.

Ferrando joins from FC Goa having stepped down from the post in the backdrop of the offer from ATK Mohun Bagan. The Spaniard guided the Gaurs to a semi-final place in the Hero ISL 2020-21 season and also led the club in their first-ever AFC Champions League campaign where they finished third.

Ferrando will have his task cut out at ATK Mohun Bagan who sit in seventh position in the table, seven points behind league leaders Mumbai City FC.

The Spaniard will take charge of the team in their match against NorthEast United on Tuesday.

However, all eyes will be on December 29 when Ferrando leads his ATK Mohun Bagan side against former team FC Goa on December 29.
