They were challenging for the League Winners’ Shield in the regular season, finishing a close second, and emerged Runners up. The 2019-20 Hero of the League has switched coasts ahead of the eighth edition, moving from Mumbai FC to ATK Mohun Bagan. With 3 goals and 7 assists last season, he was central to the Islanders' success. Boumous’ playmaking abilities can be a major boost for the Mariners, as the side also contains prolific finishers in the form of Roy Krishna and David Williams.

  • Joni Kauko

The Finnish international, who featured for his country at Euro 2020, has been added to provide depth in the ATK Mohun Bagan midfield. He last played for the Danish SuperLiga side Esbjerg. His statistics indicate that he’s got the tendency to be an offensive threat which could be an asset for the Mariners.

  • Amrinder Singh

The custodian joined Hugo Boumous in the switch from the defending champions Mumbai City FC to ATK Mohun Bagan in the summer transfer window. Amrinder had a stellar 2020-21 season, keeping 10 clean sheets, making 61 saves, and recording a saves percentage of 74.39%. He will be instrumental in marshaling the Kolkata backline for the upcoming season.

  • Liston Colaco

The skillful winger arrived in Kolkata after spending 2 seasons with Hyderabad FC. He had a breakthrough season in 2020-21, stealing the limelight with his exquisite dribbling and blistering pace. His tendency to take on defenders can add a new dimension to the already stacked ATK Mohun Bagan attack, making them a lethal proposition for any defence in the Hero ISL.

  • Ashutosh Mehta

Ashutosh Mehta had an incredible 2020-21 season at Northeast United FC, establishing himself as one of the premier right-backs in the country. He made 62 tackles, 50 clearances, and 20 blocks while also chipping in with a goal and 2 assists. The full-back’s strength and aerial prowess shall be key to his team’s exploits down the right flank.

  • Deepak Tangri

22 year-old Deepak Tangri featured extensively for Chennaiyin FC in 2020-21. making 17 appearances. He was a sturdy and industrious presence in midfield, shielding the Marina Machans’ backline. Tangri’s intensity in the center of the park would be exactly what Habas desires, as he may look to play him in a defensive midfield position or as a defender.

  • Bidyananda Singh

Bidyananda Singh completed the trio of Mumbai City FC players acquired by the Kolkata side. The 23-year-old midfielder was on the fringes of the Islanders’ squad and couldn’t secure any game time in the 2020-21 season.

  • Ricky Shabong

ATK Mohun Bagan have snapped up future prospect Ricky Shabong from I-League side Indian Arrows. The midfielder was a regular feature for the developmental side in the past two seasons and has also been a part of the Indian national team in various age groups. The Mariners would hope to see his potential develop in the coming years.

  • Arindam Bhattacharja

Golden Glove winner Arindam Bhattacharja was brilliant in between the sticks last season, securing 10 clean sheets while making 59 saves and commanding a saves percentage of 75.64%. Arindam shall continue his presence in the City of Joy, as local rivals SC East Bengal have secured the custodian’s signature for the upcoming season.

  • Javier Hernandez

The crafty midfielder from Spain has moved to fellow Hero ISL team Odisha FC, after spending 2 seasons in Kolkata. Javi will be best remembered for his brace in the 2019 Hero ISL final against Chennaiyin, which helped his team lift the Hero ISL trophy.

  • Eduardo Garcia

Edu Garcia has secured a move to Hyderabad FC ahead of the new season. The experienced attacking midfielder, who has spent the majority of his career in Spain, had a productive season for ATK FC in 2019-20, scoring 6 goals and getting 3 assists in 16 games, and most notably, scored a goal in the final against Chennaiyin FC.

  • Jayesh Rane

The versatile midfielder has made a move south to Bengaluru FC. A Mumbai FC product, he has racked up 85 appearances in the Hero Indian Super League.

  • John Johnson

John Johnson has joined Roundglass Punjab F.C. for the 2021-22 season, after mutually terminating his contract with ATK Mohun Bagan.

  • Pronay Halder

Jamshedpur FC have signed Pronay Halder on loan for the upcoming season. It would be a homecoming of sorts for Halder, who made his foray into the game as a youngster with the Tata Football Academy. The defensive midfielder who has been capped on 25 occasions by the Indian team, made 16 appearances for the Mariners last season.

  • Jobby Justin

Striker Jobby Justin, who lit up the I-League in his time with East Bengal as he scored 8 goals and assisted another 4, has moved to Chennaiyin FC on a 2-year deal. He had sustained a ligament injury that sidelined him for the entire 2020-21 season and would be raring to go for his new outfit.

  • Komal Thatal

Komal Thatal has secured a move to Jamshedpur FC. The emerging talent has immense potential and would be looking to further his development with the Red Miners.

  • Bradden Inman

The Australian attacking midfielder, who was loaned out to Odisha FC last season, has joined defending champions Mumbai City FC on a year-long contract. Inman is a product of the Newcastle United academy and has featured for clubs like Peterborough United, Rochdale AFC, and Crewe Alexandra. He made 13 appearances last season, bagging one goal and two assists.

  • Salam Ranjan Singh

Chennaiyin FC have acquired the center-back’s services ahead of the 2021-22 season. Singh was restricted to only one appearance in their debut season. The 25-year-old has been capped by the national team and has also racked up more than 50 appearances in the I-League.

  • Sandesh Jhingan

One of the best center-backs in the country, Sandesh Jhingan left ATK Mohun Bagan to experience European football, joining top-tier Croatian side HNK Sibenik. Jhingan had struck a great partnership with Tiri in the Mariners’ defence last season, and his absence may be a cause for concern in the ATK Mohun Bagan ranks.

  • Regin Michael

The defensive midfielder has been released by the club after he represented ATK Mohun Bagan during Hero ISL 2020-21.

The Mariners have been one of the most active clubs in the transfer market ahead of the 2021-22 season.  It’s been a largely successful window for them, as they’ve retained their clinical duo of David Williams and Roy Krishna while also luring in big names like Joni Kauko, Hugo Boumous, Liston Colaco, and Ashutosh Mehta among others.
