Win against Mohun Bagan SG a big confidence booster for our attack: Noah Sadaoui
Noah Sadaoui shared his thoughts after FC Goa secured a convincing 4-1 victory against Mohun Bagan Super Giant.
After securing a convincing 4-1 victory against Mohun Bagan Super Giant, FC Goa sustained their unbeaten run in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023–24, cementing their spot at the top of the table.
The Gaurs had the upper hand from the start of the game to condemn Mohun Bagan Super Giant to their biggest defeat at home. Noah Sadaoui’s brace, followed by Victor Rodriguez’s precise finish and Carlos Martinez’s confident penalty kick, saw the Mariners concede four goals or more for the second time in an ISL fixture.
Sadaoui led FC Goa’s offensive line with two goals and his creative spark. Sadaoui recorded 12 touches in the opposition box against Mohun Bagan Super Giant, which is the second-highest such tally by any player in a single game this season.
“It’s an amazing win. We had a lot of chances in the past games, but we couldn't convert. But today we were able to find the back of the net,” Sadaoui told indiansuperleague.com.
“I'm just happy for the win and the three points, and we just have to keep going, stay humble, and keep working hard,” he added.

The Moroccan believes their performance against Mohun Bagan Super Giant will help them boost their confidence offensively, as they were more precise against the Mariners in terms of finishing.
“It's not just about today's game. We have been good since the start of the season,” he stated.
“Today, having confidence, we take it game by game. But this is definitely a confidence booster in attacking wise because today we were able to convert more than in the past games,” he continued.
Sharing his excitement and amazement at being placed at the top of the table, Sadaoui explained:
“It's exciting, but there's still a long way to go. So hopefully we continue on this right path.”
We came here to win: Sandesh Jhingan
Veteran defender and former Mariner Sandesh Jhingan commented that they came to Kolkata to clinch all three points. He opined that his team was compact and precise in converting their chances, which resulted in the victory against Mohun Bagan Super Giant.
“We feel very happy. We came here to win, and they did too. We played a really good game,” he said.
“We were compact and converted our chances. When they scored the first goal, after 3-1, we knew in the second half that they would create some extra pressure (on us), but we showed a lot of maturity, and that’s a good win. We enjoyed it, but now we’ll play NorthEast United FC within the next five days, so our focus is on that game now,” he continued.
Jhingan urged his players to keep performing with the same approach for the remainder of the season.
“With getting wins, always your confidence boosts as well as your responsibility. We need to keep performing. It’s still just the ninth game of the season,” he concluded.
