FC Goa forward Tolgay Özbey.FC Goa came good at home with a 2-0 victory over visitors FC Pune City on Saturday night. The win propelled the hosts to the top half of the table in the Hero Indian Super League and improved their chances of making the play-offs. Aussie forward Tolgay Özbey started for Goa after positive displays against Delhi Dynamos FC and Mumbai City FC but was unable to find the back of the net or make a positive impact on the match as much as he would have liked to.The stocky Australian citizen of Turkish origin is a familiar figure in Indian football circles having played for the Big Three in Kolkata in the recent past. Since the start of the year he has been with Dempo Sports Club. Özbey was all praise for his teammates when indiansuperleague.com caught up with him post the match and he was positive about his team’s prospects in their upcoming fixtures. Here are some excerpts from the exclusive interview:It was a good win, how do you feel?Amazing! I think we’ve been saying that since the last match, that the Pune match is a must win for us. We’re right up there now and we’re really fighting for a top four spot. Hopefully, some results will go our way, everything is in our hands now. We just have to win our remaining four matches, it’s as simple as that. How do you think Romeo (Fernandes) played today?Romeo is a very good player and when you win a game 2-0 you know that everyone has played well. I think everyone was outstanding today and we worked hard as a team and we won, and that’s all that matters."Realistically, I expect six points in our two home games."Tolgay ÖzbeyDid the early goal help?Definitely, scoring a goal in the first six minutes really helps. How difficult were Pune City to break down because they are a good team? Pune are definitely one of the toughest teams we’ve played against, they pressed well and their midfield is very, very strong. They’ve got a lot of foreigners going forward so I think we did really well to keep a clean sheet and score two goals against them. What about your coach, Zico? What was his reaction to the win?I think he’s very happy today, I saw him jumping around after the second goal. I think he’s very, very happy. Two home matches and two consecutive away matches coming up, what are your expectations from the remaining games?Realistically, I expect six points in our two home games. That’s all we want. If we win those two matches, we’re in the top four. Chennai and Kolkata away will both be tough matches, but we’re taking it one game at a time. Our next match is against Kerala Blasters FC at home, and we’re going to be playing for all three points, nothing less.
