Subhasish Roy Chowdhury can be content with his first start in the 2016 Hero Indian Super League after helping the Gaurs claim their first point of the season against Atlético de Kolkata at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium in Kolkata on Sunday. Chowdhury kept his side in the game with two crucial saves after Sameehg Doutie had given the hosts the lead in the sixth minute. A Joffre penalty in the 77th minute rescued a point for last season’s runners-up to bring an end to a run of three consecutive defeats in Hero ISL 2016. The 30-year-old spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the match and shared his thoughts on the 1-1 draw. Here are the excerpts from the interview. Finally, Goa get a point. What are your thoughts on that?We were playing well but weren’t able to get the points on the board. To finally get a point… it will be a great motivator for the team.Do you think you should have won the game?Obviously, I feel that if you look at all the games, we have been playing well, but we are missing a lot of chances. Today we finally got a goal but I feel we should have won the game, again we missed a lot of chances. But I feel this is part and parcel of football. What are your views on your own performance? After one year and eight months I have stepped onto the field. I couldn’t play the practice matches because when we trained in Brazil I injured my heel, so after such a long time I’m playing my first match which is very pleasingWhat are your views on Sameehg Doutie’s goal and that save of Javi Lara?It felt good to save the shot as it benefited the team, which is also great for me on a personal level.
