Traditionally a midfielder, Souvik Chakraborty has taken to his new role on the right side of Delhi Dynamos FC’s backline like a fish to water. He has completed more tackles (26) than any other player in Hero ISL 2015, making him a vital component to what is arguably the league’s meanest defence. The 23-year-old spoke to indiansuperleague.com ahead of his team’s game against hosts Mumbai City FC at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday and spoke on a varies of subjects, from his new role as defender to the team’s marquee player-cum-coach Roberto Carlos’ contribution this season. Here are the excerpts.This is your second year with Delhi Dynamos FC. How do you feel?It's a pleasure to get this opportunity to play for a big club like Delhi Dynamos. To share the dressing room with some of the legends of the game. I'm very lucky to have this opportunity. It's a dream come true, actually.So far you have started each match this season. In comparison with last year, what are the changes you see in your performance?Compared to last year, I played in the centre of midfield while this year I'm playing at right back. Roberto Carlos has given me a lot of confidence and I'm honoured that he has so much trust in me."Everyone is very comfortable in the dressing room and everyone is like a friend."Souvik ChakrabortyYou have Roberto Carlos as your manager now. What have you learnt from him so far?Roberto Carlos is such a big legend in the game and he shares the dressing room with us. He even played on the field with us in a game. We have been watching him from childhood. We're very lucky that he has come here and is spending time with us and we're trying to grasp everything we can and put that to use when we step onto the field.At this moment Delhi are joint at the top of the HeroISL table with FC Pune City. What is the mood like in the dressing room right now?We won three games back-to-back. These wins are the result of team unity and understanding. So we're trying now in the future to rectify our problems, our mistakes and we'll grow even stronger. Everyone is very comfortable in the dressing room and everyone is like a friend. The team unity is great and everyone gels with everyone.
