NorthEast United FC midfielder Silas played a big role in his team’s 2-1 win over Chennaiyin FC in the 2015 Hero Indian Super League on Wednesday evening. It was his goal in the 72nd minute that proved to be the difference between the two sides at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai. With the win, the Highlanders moved up to fifth in the table. The 39-year-old Portuguese spoke to indiansuperleague.com and shared his thoughts on the match. Here are the excerpts from the interview. What’s your take on the game?It was a hard game. We started to lose 1-0 but we started going up again. The game opened up when we scored the first goal. The second half began with quite a lot of pace. I was lucky to be in a position to score and I did.Scoring just a minute after you came onto the field, how does that feel?It feels nice, gives you confidence to help you go through the rest of the game. But it’s much better considering that it was the winning goal that helped us get those three points."Now, we are in a position to rotate and rest properly."SilasNorthEast went defensive after the second goal. What that a tactical decision?Because we were winning, we were ahead. They charged ahead with a lot of players, so we had to defend. What do you have to say about your team’s position in the table now?We have quite a few games lined up for us. Chennaiyin too need to buck up. So we shouldn’t be thinking about these things right now. We have to think about winning the next game and then the one after that, and so on.Your team, at this stage, looks upbeat and confident. What has brought about this?Initially, we had too many injuries. We didn’t have players to replace them. Also, we had to rest some people. Now, we are in a position to rotate and rest properly.
